Katie HarringtonHi, I’m Katie Harrington.

I’m originally from Galway, Ireland and I live in Dublin. By day, I’m a Digital Content Strategist with one of the world’s largest financial services firms. I frequently write about Communications, Content, Marketing and PR here on the site.

By night, I explore Dublin, go on dates that end up in varying levels of awkwardness and hilarity, I play poker tournaments every week, hit the gym on a very inconsistent basis, and of course, I blog. I’m also on a personal mission to reclaim the “millennial” label from those who would cast it as something exclusively negative.

How to get the most out of this site

Here’s the story of how this site was born

I started my first blog in 2009, when I graduated college and moved to Abu Dhabi, UAE. This was long before being a blogger was cool, and far before the term ‘influencer’ had been coined. Later, I started a travel blog, because visiting new places is pretty much my favourite thing to do. As my career in Communications and Content developed, I started writing about that too.

But… something wasn’t working. For a start, maintaining two or three websites and sets of social media channels (as well as a full-time job, hobbies and a life) was tough going. Also, I decided to stop separating my personal, political and professional views.

My personal background informs my political and professional views, and vice versa. Travelling has absolutely shaped my thinking on how people communicate with each other, personally and professionally. My views on feminism and equality issues are at the core of my beliefs on how companies should market themselves. Expat life shaped my views on a whole range of different topics, from water charges to taxes to employment law.

So, as I hope my slightly long-winded examples are illustrating, it didn’t make sense to have a bunch of separate sites to talk about issues that – to my mind at least – overlap so frequently.

What do I want from you?

This site is not intended as a one-way method of communication – I’m trying to start a conversation here! If you have thoughts on something I’ve written, please get involved and leave me a comment, either right there on the post or on your favourite social media channel. Of course, if there’s a post that you enjoy, I would love it if you could share it with your network!

If there’s a topic you think I should be writing about – let me know!

How do I get in touch?

If you’ve got a quick question or comment, the best thing to do is leave me a comment here, on Facebook or Instagram. If you would like to get in touch regarding sponsored content, partnerships or business opportunities, you can email me on katie@katieharrington.co.

Think we need a phone call or you want to take me out for coffee? I’m down for that. Get in touch as described above and we’ll get something organised.
